FIRST OPEN POLISH BARBECUE CHAMPIONSHIP AND BBQ 2019

Grill of Nature Taste – this is the motto of the first Polish Open Championships in Grilling and BBQ, which took place on 14 September 2019 in Julinek Entertainment Park near Warsaw. The championship was attended by 25 teams from 7 countries and their dishes were judged by certified jurors from many countries by KCBS, including Jim Johnson – BBQ guru from USA.

The organizer – Polish Barbecue and BBQ Association ( www.polishgrillandbbq.com ) invited to the championship a team from International KCBS, which took care of the proper conduct of the competition, rules and regulations. The day before, i.e. September 13th, 2019, a training for the Jury was held, which was conducted by the American BBQ guru – Jim Johnson. There were also workshops for BBQ fans, during which Jim Johnson showed American cuisine BBQ dishes, which he made on Polish products, especially Polish Beef.

The contest Denmark was evaluated by a professional committee of the Jury chaired by a delegation from KCBS. Among them were representatives of KCBS and instructors of International Certified Barbecue Judge (CBJ):

  • Jim and Becky Johnson from USA
  • Vilela De Castro from Portugal.

The first edition of the championship was led by Tomasz Jakubiak. Most of the participating teams prepared their dishes on the SMOKER grill. The total prize pool was 18.000 PLN. They were the meritorious partners:

  • Association of Polish Cooks Euro-Toques Poland,
  • Euro-Toques Poland,
  • Association of Malopolska Cooks and Confectioners.

I Open Polish Barbecue and BBQ Championships were financed from the Beef Meat Promotion Fund. The BBQ competition was organized on the principles and in cooperation with KCBS https://www.kcbs.us.
